Governance Documents

Manage your governing documents with control

Policies that sit untouched in a folder govern nothing. Securapilot's governance documents module takes every policy, standard and procedure through the whole lifecycle — from draft to attested and followed up.

Governing documents that actually govern

A governing document only has effect if it is current, approved and read by the right people. Securapilot's module gathers policies, standards, guidelines and procedures with version control, an approval workflow, attestation and control mappings — with a complete audit trail.

The result: governing documents that are current, approved, read and traceable.

Frequently asked questions about the governance documents module

What types of governance documents can be managed?

The module manages policies, standards, guidelines, procedures and instructions. Each document type has its own default values — review interval, number of approval steps and whether attestation is required — and a template that gives new documents a ready-made structure.

How does the approval workflow work?

When a document is submitted for review, an approval chain of up to three steps is created, taken from the document type. Each step has a deadline with reminders, and a pending approval can be delegated. A rejected document returns to draft.

What does attestation mean?

Attestation means users read and acknowledge a governance document. The recipient gets a secure link with no login, reminders are sent for incomplete attestations, and an optional knowledge quiz can require a passing result. A major version requires renewed attestation.

How are governance documents connected to compliance?

Governance documents can be linked to compliance controls with a coverage type — full, partial or related. The coverage matrix shows which controls are covered by which documents, and the health score factors in framework coverage.
